The phrase does go "Trix are for Kids!". It's no wonder that General Mills doesn't want to market to full grown adults! Part of it's marketing mix is to specifically sell to kids. They have segmented their market into adults and kids. The needs of adults probably aren't satisfied by a kids cereal.
Adults may want bran flakes or something with prunes and raisins. Heck, they probably want bran flakes and raisins together in Raisin Bran(which is produced by Kellogg's). Maybe adults don't want an ungodly amount of sugar to start their day, so they wouldn't want to have Trix first thing in the morning.
So why does Trix use the slogan 'Trix are for Kids!'. It's to penetrate the market in kids cereal. There has been some product development (like changing the pieces from puff balls back into fruit shapes and offering reduced sugar varieties), but for the most part, this cereal has just kept penetrating the kids cereal market for years.
